This decision is rigged

Copeland has to hire a black coach. SMU will still lose and in 3 years Tubbs and Copeland will be gone. I can't believe they are even considering Norm Roberts whose only stint as a head coach was a pathetic 24-84. Scott Rigot (Kentucky)who was 158-35 at Division II was not even considered. At least if you are going to hire a head coach, hire a coach with a proven track record. Reverse racism is alive and well in college hoops...

this isn't really that hard to figure out. SMU needs someone who has proven they can recruit Texas. Yes they need to be able to motivate and coach too, but that is very subjective. Whatever Rigot did at Kentucky Weslyan or whereever is nice, but it doesnt fly very far here. Get over the discrimination garbage.

You're laughable. Is the University of Kentucky Division II now? You are the one who referenced his DII record.

For the record: Rigot's Div. II headcoaching gig was at Division II "powerhouse"-Spartanburg (S.C.) Methodist College.

nothing quite as nauseating as SMU rich kids complaining about reverse discrimination.

well, why didn't you just say so? Spartanburg Methodist University, the real SMU. Give him a life contract. I'm sure he has successfully recruited lots of stud high schoolers from Texas too. No doubt the high school coaches in the state would fall all over themselves to talk to him and help him.

My fear is that this decision is rigged the opposite way. That out of thanks to Tubbs loyalty and, perhaps more, fear about the fallout from the DISD coaches if Tubbs isn't chosen, Jimmy's being strung along. That, as Dooby pointed out, the decision to hire Roberts has already been made.

Stallion - don' t think Bill is an SMU student - he seems to be Rigot's agent, or maybe his special "buddy".

*yawn* wake me up when you have something reasonable to say. God forbid that Copeland diss the white head coach. No wonder Bill's favorite coach was Rigot...it's probably because it rhymes with Bigot.
