Last week I was leaving town on Southwest and I took Thrifty Car rental parking shuttle. If you do not know, Al Lipscomb's brother is one of the drivers there and he is very involved in Dallas too.

I started the conversation talking about Jimmy Tubbs and his eyes lit up. He sees good things to come to SMU.
The other rider was a man named Bill Chaffin or Basketball Bill. He holds the record for MAKING 830 free throws in a row. He said that he knew Jimmy Tubbs from his Kimball days and that SMU had a great coach.

Bball Bill is a motivational speaker and part time free throw coach. I gave him the number to SMU switchboard.

It would be nice to see SMU make 90% free throws next year.

No real point but - Dallas people know Coach Tubbs!!

830 in a row? Was it validated as a world record or something? Thats pretty amazing. Where did this Bball Bill play high school/college ball?

To your point, the Jimmy Tubbs hiring is so right for SMU in so many ways. If we support him, we can't lose on this hire.

He said it was counted and told a couple stories about Magic Johnson and Roger Starbach - shooting hoops.

Specific info:
190 out of 208 in ten minutes is in the record books. The 830 was verbal to me.

91.34 % in ten minutes with one ball and one rebounder.
WOW

Hopefully all the talk of the Dallas community getting behind him will coincide with a resurgence of enthusiasm from within the SMU community. It sure would be great to see and hear Moody rockin' once again.
