Andy Enfield's 2025 first SMU signing class is ranked No. 6 by ESPN.com

DALLAS (SMU) – Four-star prospects Jermaine O'Neal, Jr., Jaden Toombs and Nigel Walls have signed to play at SMU beginning with the 2025-26 season, Head Coach Andy Enfield announced today. The 2025 signing class is ranked as high as No. 6 nationally, the highest in program history.

Walls (6-10, F), from St. Francis Episcopal in Houston, is ranked as high as No. 57 nationally. Toombs and O'Neal Jr. are teammates are Dynamic Prep in Irving, where Toombs (6-10, C) is rated as high as No. 38 nationally and O'Neal Jr. (6-5, F) is listed as high as No. 88 nationally.

The SMU signing class is the highest in program history, coming it at No. 6 on ESPN.com. That ranks third in the ACC behind No. 1 Duke and No. 5 Notre Dame.

Jermaine O'Neal Jr. averaged 13.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks as a junior at Dynamic Prep as the team went 23-1 to finish ranked No. 16 nationally in the SCNext Top 25.


Jaden Toombs (C, 6-10, 245)
Four-star | No. 38 ESPN | No. 45 On3 | No. 47 247 Sports

Jaden Toombs announces commitment to SMU
Toombs is listed as high as No. 6 nationally at center and as high as No. 3 overall in Texas. He is on the 2024-25 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Boy's High School Player of the Year watch list. He has been part of the USA Basketball program since 2022 and was invited to the USA Junior National Team minicamp in October. He was previously a finalist for the USA Basketball U16 national team and U17 national team. As a junior at Dynamic Prep, he averaged a double-double of 12.8 points, 10.3 rebounds with 2.4 assists and 2.3 blocks at the team went 23-1 to finish ranked No. 16 nationally in the SCNext Top 25.


Nigel Walls (F, 6-10, 195)
Four-star | No. 62 ESPN | No. 57 On3 | No. 58 247 Sports
St. Francis Episcopal in Houston, Texas
In the summer of 2024, Walls averaged 6.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 21.4 minutes in 15 games for JL3 Elite in the Nike EYBL. As a junior at St. Francis Episcopal, he averaged 13.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals.

Was going to ask about Davis-Ray. Hopefully another impact guard is on the radar.

Imagine if we had said in July that within a few months, Duke basketball fans would ... know that SMU even exists. We would have been laughed at.
