Beat Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech is coming off a close loss @ Syracuse in a game that preceded our game last night. Our guys really need to find their shooting touches again and get a win Saturday. I remember playing a series with Ga Tech my FR and SO years at SMU. They beat us easily in Atlanta 91-77 and we returned the favor the following year in Moody 93-70. SMU won the SWC that year and had 5 guys average double figures (one of those was David Miller who averaged 10.7 points and 5.1 rebounds) SMU is 6-8 all-time vs Ga Tech so it's been a very competitive series throughout our history with them.

Saturday will be a very different game than last night. UNC likes to run from the first whistle to the last, while GaTech will walk it up and milk the clock.

CP is right that we need to find our shooting touch, because the number of shots should go down significantly.

Not only Ga Tech but the following week @ Virginia will be half court games. Our height has made this year's team a little more productive in the half court game compared to our recent past

This is a must win game vs a team that gave UNC all they could handle at the Dean Dome.

Really need a good bounce back win today.

There was a time when Georgia Tech was a power in the ACC - Coach Bobby Cremins (think Mike Dement Haircut, but white hair), Dennis Scott, Kenny Anderson, John Sally, Mark Price, Travis Best, Stephon Marbury, Chris Bosh and the list goes on.

They made 9 NCAA tournaments in a row at one point - Multiple sweet 16s and a final four.

What happened? Did the drugged up cocaine coach from Mizzou kill that program?

Quin Synder never coached at Tech.

When Cremins left in 2000, they went through three coaches who either had early success then faded (Paul Hewitt, Josh Pastner) or never had much success at all (the guy in between those two). No ginormous scandals, just meh results. We’ll see what Stoudamire can do.

As already noted, Quin Snyder (Duke ‘89) never had any affiliation with Tech. And while he was definitely a train wreck at Mizzou, he reinvented himself as a coaching/talent guru in the NBA and is currently head coach of the Hawks.

I was confusing him with Pastner for some reason.

Looks like Quin is HC for another Atlanta team now.

Pastner was Memphis to Tech. Who can forget him freaking out as Keith Frazier was raining threes on Memphis? Snyder imploded at Missouri

Pastner had plenty of issues, but cocaine was not one per my knowledge.
