ACC basketball Tournament

Postby Charleston Pony » Sun Mar 09, 2025 8:03 am

We get the winner of the Florida State vs Syracuse game which, given the way our last 2 games against these teams went, doesn't bode well for our guys. Winner of that game gets Clemson so I have a hard time being optimistic about our chances. This team will win or lose based on whether we can make threes, which has pretty much been the case all season long.

I hope it’s F$U and it kicks off a revenge tour through them, Klempson, and Luhvul.

We can dream. Win those 3 games and we suddenly look like a team that deserves NCAA consideration.

Going to Charlotte on Friday but looks like I won't get to see any Pony hoops. Was hoping for a game vs. Duke that night but hopefully we win two to get there. My wife arrives on Thursday so maybe she can see SMU vs. Clemson. Fingers crossed.

Any recommendations for things to do in the Queen City?

Like any other major city, plenty of places to eat & drink, museums, historical tours, etc... The city has a tourism website:

If you like live music, the Music Factory area has several venues and usually has something going on.
If you like breweries, the NoDa area has several to check out.
If you like history, drive down I-85 to Kings Mountain to see a Revolutionary War site, and continue down to Cowpens, SC if you like.
If you like to gamble, there is a casino under construction but they have an area open. Catawba 2 Kings Casino, near the revolutionary war site. Sports bets or table games are your best bets. I'd stay off the slots.
If the weather was warmer, the Whitewater Center is a cool place to visit.
Many restaurants around the city of course. If you want authentic NC BBQ, I'd drive out of town to Lexington, NC. Places aren't fancy, and that's what you want.

Thanks for the recommendations. Regardless of game outcomes, we’ll be repping the Ponies while in the Queen City area.

We want Syracuse. If we hit FT the last game at Moody is not close. Add in the miracle Syracuse threes (the one at the end of the first half) and I would feel pretty good about that not happening again.

I really don't like what we saw against FSU.

I'd rather FSU. We don't make lazy passes we beat FSU;. We don't play lazy defense, we beat FSU. We make a few crummy inside shots, we beat FSU. I'd like to see this team motivated to prove it was a poor team playing effort that lost to FSU. Not the poorer team.

Agree. I'd like a rematch with FSU. Their big man schooled Samet and I'd like to see how he responds and my guess is we shoot better than we did at FSU

Cal wins in double OT. Let's hope FSU vs Syracuse goes to double OT or more tonight. I would gladly accept the "tired legs" advantage tomorrow night
