From case.com:

Led by 27 points from J.J. Starling, No. 14 seed Syracuse (14-18) outlasted No. 11 seed Florida State (17-15) on Tuesday night at the Spectrum Center, 66-62, to advance to the second round of the ACC Tournament.

Starling and Eddie Lampkin Jr., who were both named All-ACC Honorable Mention selections Monday, combined to score 41 points for the Orange, with Jyare Davis adding 14 of his own. Lampkin came up just one rebound short of a 15th double-double this season.

The Orange outscored Florida State 44-32 in the paint and outrebounded the Seminoles 42-32, which included a 13-8 edge on the offensive glass. Syracuse led for over 38 minutes but had to withstand a late surge from Florida State, which trimmed a 16-point second-half deficit down to just one in the closing seconds.

Syracuse will face No. 6 seed SMU on Wednesday night in the second round. The contest is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. and will air on ESPNU. This will be the first game of the tournament for the Mustangs, as they received a bye through the first round. The two teams met in Dallas on March 4, with SMU winning, 77-75, thanks to a late tip-in.

Check back later for more comprehensive coverage of tonight's ACC Tournament victory.

Ambrose-Hylton tip-in completes Senior Night comeback victory

DALLAS (AP) -- Keon Ambrose-Hylton tipped in the winning basket with 2.9 seconds remaining to lift SMU to a 77-75 win over Syracuse on Tuesday night.

Ambrose-Hylton had given the Mustangs (22-8, 13-6 ACC) their first lead of the second half when Boopie Miller fed him in the paint with 46 seconds remaining. Jaquan Carlos tied the game with a free throw before Ambrose-Hylton followed Miller's miss for the winner. JJ Starling got up a shot from inside the halfcourt line but the ball went in-and-out at the buzzer.

Miller was back after missing five games with an injury and the point guard finished with 11 points and five assists. Kario Oquendo scored 16 points to lead six Mustangs in double figures.

Lucas Taylor scored 13 points and Jaquan Carlos 12 with eight assists for the Orange (12-18, 6-13), who also had six scorers in double figures.

Three-pointers by Chris Bell and Kyle Cuffe Jr. gave Syracuse a 12-point lead midway through the second half. SMU tied the game at 73-all on a Samet Yigitoglu free throw with 1:29 left.

The Orange led 41-36 at halftime after Carlos banked in a straightaway 3-pointer at the buzzer.

SMU held leads for only 1:28 of the game. The Mustangs shot 54% but were just 13 of 27 from the line. Syracuse shot 48% but gave up 16 points off 14 turnovers.

When the teams met eight days ago, Lucas Taylor started out red-hot — at one point, he was outscoring SMU, 11-10, and then barely played after his fast start.

Ni e sequence for Yohan Traore: first he blocks a shot, and then dunks on the other end while getting fouled. Missed the FT, but the foul was fourth on Syracuse
