Nana Owusu Anane Reopens CommitmentIs this true. I thought he would play a major role for us next season
Re: Nana Owusu Anane Reopens CommitmentRoster building year to year is more challenging than ever. Coaches are well paid but face a lot of pressure in today's world of college athletics. I wonder how determined Traore is to move on? He started the season playing the 4 until Enfield went with a 3 guard look and used Cross as a 4 for so much of the season
Re: Nana Owusu Anane Reopens CommitmentSMU replaces Nana with Michigan transfer PF Sam Walters, 6’10” 200 lbs.
Re: Nana Owusu Anane Reopens CommitmentSo in a 5 day span Walters goes from U of M to MSU to SMU. Portal is as wild as ever
Re: Nana Owusu Anane Reopens CommitmentHopefully there's not a university with a USM acronym...
"It’s hard to overstate how impressive SMU has been on the recruiting trail since the ACC announced the Mustangs would be joining the league”

Re: Nana Owusu Anane Reopens Commitment
The University of Southern Mississippi was once a conference mate but I don't think they would pay what the MSUs (Michigan State being another) or SMU can ![]()
Re: Nana Owusu Anane Reopens CommitmentHe committed to Grand Canyon University.
Seems strange. I wonder what the story is with this flip. https://arizonasports.com/gcu/nana-owus ... s/3581955/
Re: Nana Owusu Anane Reopens CommitmentLooks like Big Fish, Small Pond syndrome. GCU does have a decent men's BB program. WAC champion this year. Lost big to Maryland in first round. They did beat Stanford in the regular season.

Re: Nana Owusu Anane Reopens CommitmentBig $ which we were unwilling to match
Re: Nana Owusu Anane Reopens CommitmentCan't fault these guys for going with the best deal they can get while they are able to monetize their skills. I remember the days when guys would go pro before their college eligibility was exhausted and how so many fans would berate them for "leaving early" and not appreciating the opportunity they had to earn a degree while on scholarship. I always thought "didn't you go to college in hopes of earning more as you began your career?" Most of these guys making money as college athletes will never make any money playing "professionally" so it's tough to fault them. It just makes coaching at this level that much harder and it's more important than ever to have a quality staff supporting the recruiting/roster building effort
Re: Nana Owusu Anane Reopens CommitmentAs a son of an SMU prof... Education has to play a part in going to college. There needs to be some changes made to this NIL situation.
IE: Must show progress for a degree. Can only transfer one time unless the coach quits or is fired. Then you could transfer a second time. If you leave school to turn pro you pay back the school for the cost of X years of tuition. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
