WBB adds ACC transfer forward

Forward Zahra King has transferred from Cal to SMU.

King, listed on Cal's website last year as a 5-10 freshman, averaged 8.2 minutes in 19 appearances last season, averaging 2.8 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.

From the Cal website:

As a Freshman (2024-25):
Appeared in 19 games totaling 156 minutes for an average of 8.2 minutes per contest.
Totaled 53 points (2.8 points per game), 24 rebounds and 10 assists.
Played a season-high 18 minutes at Duke.
Had season highs of 13 points, two 3-pointers, and four rebounds against Austin Peay.
Had a season-high three assists against Temple.

High School:
Ranked No. 76 nationally be ESPNW class of 2024 top 100 rankings
Part of the 23rd nationally ranked 2024 recruiting class (ESPNW)
Over her first three seasons, averaged 10.7 points, 2.5 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game
After her 2022-23 junior season, King was named to the Pennsylvania Sports Writers All-State Girls Basketball Class 3A First Team

If she averaged 8 minutes and 3 points at South Carolina, that's one thing. But at Cal?

I'm not saying she isn't good. I know nothing about her.

But what do you like?

I like a 5’10” perimeter player (who was a top 100 recruit). We have to trust Coach Barnes will use the recruiting funds well. We will be top 4 in available recruiting funds so the staff merely needs to use it wisely.
