The former SMU forward has signed with MLP Academics, a professional team in Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

From the team press release (translated through Google's translator:

The MLP Academics Heidelberg have found another piece of the puzzle and can announce their next newcomer, Samuell Williamson. The 25-year-old forward comes from Heroes Den Bosch as champions and cup winners and signs for one season.

Alex Vogel, sporting director of the MLP Academics, is pleased about the latest addition to the Heidelberg squad: "We spoke for the first time early last season. He is a player whose style fits well into [head coach Danny Jansson's] system. Sam plays unselfishly, moves very well off the ball, is extremely active athletically and defensively. He doesn't have to score to help the team. He can also play in different positions. We are really looking forward to it together with Sam coming season – national and international.”

After high school and a total of five years of college for the University of Louisville and Southern Methodist University, Sam started his professional career in the Netherlands with Heroes Den Bosch. In his first season as a professional he celebrated the Dutch championship and cup victory with Den Bosch. This also helped his team take part in the Basketball Champions League qualifying tournament next September.

A REAL ALL-ROUNDER

In the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League, Sam averaged 12.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists. He showed his best performance of the season at the end of January in the 102:98 win against Groningen with 24 points, an incredible 17 rebounds and five assists. Three days later, he put up 25 points and narrowly missed another double-double with nine rebounds. He did this again a few days later with 22 points and 11 rebounds. With eight assists, Sam almost achieved a triple-double. The 2.03 meter tall forward achieved a double-double a total of five times and narrowly missed it six times with nine rebounds each.

His strong and successful season at Den Bosch brought the 25-year-old several awards. He was promoted in the Netherlands by the basketball portal “eurobasket”.
Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. In the BNXT League he made it to the All-2nd team.

“LET’S GET TO WORK!”

After his successful debut season as a professional, Sam is excited to now be taking the next step in his development: "I'm incredibly excited to get started at MLP Academics. From the conversations I had with the club and the vision they shared, I knew this was the right place for me. The club has a strong culture, passionate fans and real ambition - I'm ready to be a part of it. I can't wait to get on the pitch, get to know my teammates and do everything for this club to give the city of Heidelberg “Let’s get to work!”
