Are you sure about that? The bulkheads are not that wide. They might make it a little short of 25 meters but I don't think it shortens down to 25 yards. You may be right but it just seems odd to me.

Did the math. Probably right, wouldn't create two 25 yard pools unless the bulkhead was 12 feet wide and the ones I've seen I don't think were that wide. When I was swimming (long time ago in high school), state would be in an Olympic pool with a bulkhead to make a 25 yard shortcourse pool. Maybe the warmup pool was a little longer than 25 yards. And now that I'm typing this, I think I remember seeing a pool with 2 bulkheads used which would make more sense to create two 25 yard pools.

I am positive about that.
If you take a 50 meter pool (55 yards) and put a 5 yard wide bulkhead in the middle you two 25 year pools.
Most indoor 50 meter pools have either 5 yard wide bulk heads that you can put in, or two smaller bulkheads to split that pool into 3 sections when needed (put a 25 yard pool in the middle half and smaller sections on each side.)

Sorry, the bulkheads that SMU uses are no where near 5 yards wide. Thus the two 25 meter pools. This is an outdoor pool not sure that makes any difference what so ever. I have swam the SMU pool with the bulkheads in the middle and believe me, I can tell it is longer than 25 yards. I have swam the SMU pool with the bulkhead at the 25 yard point. I know the difference. Interesting discussion by the way.:D

While the particular bulkhead you've used may not have been 5 yards wide, there is no way that you can take a 50m pool and put a bulkhead in it and create two 25m pools. The bulkhead has some width to it regardless, so one end may be set to 25m and then the second end would be 25m minus the width of the bulkhead.

I was talking about two 25 yard pools being in a 50 meter pool - or you can have one be 25 yards and one 25 meters depending on the size of a bulkhead.
The SMU coaches are doing some things to make that possible - not necessarily a traditional bulkhead.

Here's an offer they can't refuse.......when I travel to Dallas and stay at a hotel/motel, the team can "workout" in the hotel's/motel's pool. However, they must bring their own towels.
