Volleyball: NCAA Tournament Selection Show

I still think the selection committees don't know what to do with The American.

Look at the basketball tournament last season. They snubbed SMU, and then put three of the four teams that did make it in the same region.

We are new, but are definitely among the best of the rest in just about every major team sport if not all team sports.

I had a bad feeling the biggest hurdle for SMU to overcome in volleyball was the committee believing the conference deserved a second bid. When it came down to the final two or three teams selected, I am sure the lack of real knowledge of The American by the committee made a difference.

SMU ended up 42 in the final regular season RPI rankings.

I remember some saying that the American did not have any representation in the basketball selection committee last season (as not just SMU was snubbed, but the entire upper half of the conference was). Did we have representation in volleyball's selection committee this season?

Good question. The committee is actually from mostly small schools for some reason.

What makes me angry about this process is that they chose a 7th place Big 10 team with an 18-13 record, and a lower rpi over us. Just shows that even with the non revenue sports the p5's get preference.
