Arcila Named The American Swimmer Of The Week
Senior Earns Second Honor Weekly Honor In 2014-15

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (The American/SMU) – Senior Isabella Arcila was named the American Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season, following her performance against No. 6 Texas and No. 11 Arizona, league officials announced on Tuesday.

The Cali, Colombia, native accounted for four of the Mustangs’ six first place finishes at the event, including the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle, which was a personal best. Arcila was also part of the winning 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays, as well as the 200-yard medley relay.

She also placed second in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke, and led off the 400-yard medley relay that finished second. Her times in the 50-free and 100- and 200-yard backstroke were also NCAA ‘B’ standards.

Arcila is a five-time NCAA All-American and recently qualified for the Pan American Games in the 50-meter freestyle.

The Mustangs are back in action on Friday at 5 p.m. CT as they travel to Denton, Texas, to face North Texas. They close the weekend with a time trial exhibition event in Southlake, Texas, on Saturday afternoon. The event will also serve as Senior Day for Arcila and seven other Mustangs.
