Mustangs Beat Incarnate Word, 7-0
SMU Improves To 11-2 Overall

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs picked up another win on Sunday, defeating Incarnate Word 7-0 on Sunday at the Ann and Brad Family Pavilion at the SMU Tennis Complex.
SMU (11-2) grabbed the opening doubles point quickly, earning a pair of 6-1 wins on courts 2 and 3. Sophomores Julio Olaya and Markus Kerner, playing as a pair for the first time, won first at No. 3. Freshman Samm Butler and junior Tony Russell followed, winning at No. 2 doubles to improve to 6-1 as a duo this season.
Freshman Alec Josepher tallied SMU's first point in singles, giving SMU a 2-0 match lead with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Andre Buchanan-Dempsey at the No. 6 spot. Olaya added to the Mustangs' total with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 over Brody Rodriguez, improving Olaya's record to 5-0 this spring.
Sophomore Arkadijs Slobodkins earned his second match-clinching singles win of the season, beating Ryan Hoverson at No. 4, 6-3, 6-1. Slobodkins is now 10-2 this spring, with a 2-0 record at No. 4 singles.
Kerner picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win over Joey Vatanadilok at No. 2, and Butler won 6-2, 6-2 over Leonard Ivic in his first-career match playing No. 1 singles. Butler has won eight straight matches dating back to Feb. 8. Junior Nate Lammons finished the match with a 7-6 (4), 7-5 win at No. 3 over Tucker Brown.
SMU will be back in action on Friday as it hosts both Sacramento State (12 p.m. CT) and Texas-Pan American (6 p.m. CT) at the SMU Tennis Complex.
