Volleyball: SMU vs. Temple/UConn

The Mustangs (13-3, 3-1) are back home this weekend to host Temple Friday night and UConn Sunday afternoon.

Friday night's match is huge, as the Owls are currently undefeated in The American at 4-0 and 13-3 overall.

The Huskies are 7-8 overall and 1-3 early in The American season.

SMU will also celebrate 20 seasons of volleyball at the Temple match Friday night.

SMU VOLLEYBALL TURNS 20
The Mustangs are celebrating their 20th season as an NCAA volleyball program, which began in 1996. SMU will have a "Birthday Bash" during its match against Temple in Moody Coliseum on Oct. 9. Alumni are invited back for a reception, and there will be a special tribute during the intermission.

SMU swept Temple tonight (25-13, 25-23, 25-17)! The Mustangs are now in a tie for first place in The American.

Abbey Bybel had 13 kills. Avery Acker had 39 assists. Morgan Heise had 20 digs.

SMU faces Connecticut at Moody Sunday afternoon.

SMU sweeps Connecticut 3-0 (25-13, 28-26, 25-23)! The Mustangs are now 15-3 and 5-1 in American play.

Katie Hegarty led the way with 10 kills. Janelle Giordano and Kristen Stehling each added 9 as well.

Avery Acker with 38 assists and 11 digs for another double-double. Morgan Heise had 13 digs.

The Mustangs play at USF and UCF next weekend.
