Cichero Earns Offensive Player Of The Week Honors
Scored Game-Winning Goal Against Cincinnati

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (American/SMU) – Following a 1-0 week in conference action, No. 21 SMU men’s soccer player Mauro Cichero was honored by the American Athletic Conference as the Offensive Player of the Week.
Cichero, a sophomore forward from Norman, Oklahoma, scored the game-winning goal with three minutes remaining in double overtime to lift the Mustangs to a 1-0 victory over Cincinnati. The goal was his ninth of the season, a career and team high.
The award is the Mustangs’ seventh player of the week this season with Michael Nelson earning Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 12, Cichero earning Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 5 and Sept. 7, Emil Cuello earning Rookie of the Week on Oct. 5 and Sept. 21 and Jared Rice earning Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 28.
The Mustangs currently sit in first place in AAC standings with a record of 5-0, 10-2-2 overall, and post an eight match unbeaten streak. SMU leads the conference in shots (215) and assists per game (29).
The Ponies host Tulsa for the second conference meeting between the teams this season on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. CT at Westcott Field. In the first matchup, SMU defeated the Golden Hurricane 1-0 on Sept. 26. For ticket information, go to www.smumustangs.com/tickets.
