Women's Golf Finishes Seventh At Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational
SMU's Lindsey McCurdy and Jenny Haglund tied for 10th overall

AUSTIN, Texas (SMU) – The SMU women’s golf team finished in seventh place at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational Tuesday at the UT Golf Club. SMU’s Lindsey McCurdy and Jenny Haglund tied for 10th on the overall player leaderboard.
SMU carded a 293-297-296 886 for the tournament.
Lindsey McCurdy shot a 71-74-73 218 to finish at 2-over. In the final round, the junior scored a 1-over-par 73, but was as low as 2-under on the day. McCurdy led the Mustangs with 10 birdies throughout the 54-hole competition.
It was McCurdy’s second top-10 finish of the fall season, previously placing first at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational back on Sept. 8.
Haglund had a slow start to her day with a bogey on the second hole, but rebounded by making three birdies through her next seven holes. At the end of her front nine, the senior found herself one shot off the overall lead at 2-under.
Haglund carded a 2-over-par 218 overall tying her for tenth, her highest finish this fall.
Alexandra Rossi scored a 1-over-par 73 in her final round, to move up nine spots on the player leaderboard to 19th place. The senior was at 1-over through nine holes before making consecutive birdies to bring her to 1-under. Rossi finished with a 5-over-par 221 through three rounds.
Haley Tygret played consistently throughout the tournament carding a 76-77-76 229. Rounding out for SMU was Katie Page who shot a 77-77-79 233.
No. 8 Kent State won the 14-team tournament finishing at 5-under-par 859. Texas Tech’s Gabby Parker shot a 5-under-par 211 to take home the individual title.
Head coach Jeanne Sutherland said the Mustangs are progressing well, but there is room for improvement.
“We saw some good things from the team this week,†Sutherland said. “We are on the right track, but we need to improve a great deal from 100 yards and in to compete with the best in the country.â€
The Mustangs are back on the course Sunday when they take part in the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
“We have a quick turnaround to UTSA and we will do our best to get into contention there,†Sutherland said.
