Alexis Casati Named Women’s Tennis Associate Head Coach

DALLAS (SMU) — Alexis Casati has been named the Associate Head Coach for SMU Women's Tennis, head coach Jeff Nevolo announced.

Casati has eight seasons of coaching under her belt with the past four serving as an Associate Head Coach at Georgia Tech. Prior to her time at Georgia Tech, she spent the 2019-2020 season on the SMU staff under Nevolo.

"Alexis has proven to be one of the best young coaches in the nation and I feel so fortunate that she has chosen to come back to the Hilltop," Nevolo said. "Her success recruiting and developing student-athletes in the ACC will be a huge asset to our program as we begin the new era of SMU Athletics."

Casati arrives on the Hilltop just one month before the University joins the ACC.

She was named the Associate Head Coach at Georgia Tech in September of 2020, which she served until re-joining SMU.

Casati has coached six All-Americans in addition to nine All-Conference selections as well as two Regional Rookie of the Year awards. In 2024, she led the Yellow Jackets to the No. 7 recruiting class. She also helped the program to finish in the top 25 in 2024, 2023 and 2021.

Casati joins the Mustangs' following a successful 2023-24 season run in which SMU finished No. 34, as ranked by the ITA. SMU earned its second consecutive American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship.

The Mustangs traveled to Stillwater, Okla. to compete in the NCAA Tournament for a second straight season in May and advanced to the second round.

Casati graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and has a M.A. from Western Michigan University. She played tennis during her time in Illinois and was two-time team captain and voted MVP in 2014, 2015 and 2017.
