Men's tennis drops match at North Carolina
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (SMU) – SMU Men's Tennis fell 4-0 to North Carolina at the Chewning Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C., Sunday.
The Mustangs showed great fight in singles play after dropping the doubles point. Trevor Svajda, Louis Cloud and Georgi Georgiev won the first sets in their singles matches, but the Tar Heels clinched the match with three singles wins before the Mustangs could rally back.
How it went
The hosts took the first lead in doubles play. Anthony Wright and Diego Jarry defeated Georgiev and Ofek Shimanov (6-2) before Constantinos Djakouris and Nick Mangiapane clinched the point against Vikas Deo and Xavier Calvelo (6-4).
The Tar Heels extended their lead to 2-0 in singles as No. 114 Chris Xu won against Shimanov (6-1, 6-2).
UNC's Patrick Schoen defeated Jerry Barton (6-2, 6-1) before Jarry clinched it for the hosts with a win over Noah McDonald (6-4, 6-3).
