Men’s soccer announces 7 additions to 2025 roster
DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men's Soccer announced the addition of seven new Mustangs to the 2025 roster on Tuesday.
"We are thrilled to add this outstanding group to our roster. These players will be great additions and address several positional needs. They have a wide range of experiences that will surely benefit our program this fall and for years to come," said Head Coach Kevin Hudson.
"A special note of appreciation goes out to our Recruiting Coordinator, Michael King and Assistant Coaches, Jaime Ibarra-Perez and Ross Fitzpatrick. Their tireless recruiting efforts make a class like this possible."
The new Mustangs, consisting of five freshmen and two transfers, will strengthen SMU's depth ahead of its second Atlantic Coast Conference campaign.
Caleb Bronold – Midfielder, Freshman | Frisco, Texas
Bronold joins SMU from Frisco, Texas, to strengthen the Mustangs' midfield.
The central midfielder was included in the FC Dallas U19 Combined roster for the 2025 Dallas Cup Super Group. He also played at the DKSC soccer club.
Matthias [deleted] – Defender, Senior | Tettnang, Germany/Sacred Heart
[deleted] joins the Mustangs after spending three years playing for the Sacred Heart Pioneers. The fullback from Tettnang, Germany, made 45 appearances for the Pioneers, posting five goals and three assists through three seasons.
In his junior season, last year, [deleted] scored three goals after making 15 appearances, earning All-MAAC-Third Team honors. Outside of his offensive contributions, Sacred Heart also posted five clean sheets last season with [deleted] on the backline.
Anden Ellis – Defender, Freshman | Saint Louis, Mo.
A left-back from Saint Louis, Missouri, Ellis came to SMU to provide an offensive option on the Mustangs' back line.
The incoming freshman played for Saint Louis SC for four years. He has 24 goal contributions in his U18 season, providing 17 assists and scoring seven goals. Ellis played for the Christian Brothers College High School.
Landon Hickam – Midfielder, Freshman | Frisco, Texas
Frisco-native Hickam comes to the Hilltop after playing two years for North Texas SC.
The midfielder is a FC Dallas Academy product and made his professional debut with North Texas SC in 2024. Prior to coming to SMU, Hickam made nine appearances with six starts for North Texas SC in the 2025 season, scoring one goal. He earned the MLS Next Pro goal of the week and was named Rising Star of the Week in May.
Luis Flores – Forward, Graduate | Lufkin, Texas/Oral Roberts
Texas-Native Flores will return to his home state after competing for two seasons at Oral Roberts. He made 33 appearances on his two-year tenure with the Golden Eagles, posting 22 goals.
Flores left ORU as one of the most decorated players in program history. He is a two-time Summit League First Team All-League selection. Flores earned the Summit League Offensive Player of the Year award and a spot on the United Soccer Coaches' 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Players to Watch list after his 2023 season.
Nathan Kinser – Goalkeeper, Freshman | Lucas, Texas/
Kinser will stay in his home neighborhood as he joins SMU from Lucas, Texas. A decorated player, Kinser comes to the Hilltop after being named 2025 District 9-5A Goalkeeper of the Year, 2025 First Team All-District 9-5A, 2025 TASCO Honorable Mention All-State 5-A and 2025 Lovejoy High School Team MVP.
The 6-2 goalkeeper is a proven leadership figure in front of the goal after captaining the Dallas Texans and Lovejoy High School for the 2024-25 season. Kinser only allowed three goals in district play in his senior year. He led the Dallas Texans to the 2024 Dallas Cup U-18 Semifinals and the 2024 Plano Labor Day Tournament Championship.
Spencer Zachgo – Forward, Freshman | Wichita, Kansas
Zachgo is a 6-4 forward joining the Mustangs from Wichita, Kansas. A proven striker out of high school, he was named First Team All-State, Regional All-American, and Scholar All-American honors as a senior.
A four-year starter for Kapaun Mount Carmel High School, Zachgo captained the Kapaun Crusaders in his senior year and finished his high school career with 46 goals and 28 assists. He competed with the FC Wichita ECNL team and was selected for the ECNL National Conference Cup in 2024.
