Mitchell earns ACC preseason honors, SMU picked tied for No. 5

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (ACC/SMU) – SMU Men's Soccer Junior Jaylinn Mitchell was named on the Atlantic Coast Conference Preseason Players Watch List, and SMU was picked No. 5 in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll as announced by the conference on Wednesday.

Mitchell was included among 15 players in the ACC Preseason Players Watch List. He scored three goals and made two assists in 15 starts and 21 appearances last season.

On SMU's inaugural ACC campaign, Mithcell scored the program's first ACC goal against No. 8 Pitt and was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Sep. 3.

The Mustangs are tied with Stanford as the No. 5 pick on the preseason coaches poll. They moved up three spots in their second season in the ACC after being ranked No. 8 in their debut last year.

Earlier this month, SMU was ranked No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll. The Mustangs are the highest-ranked ACC team in the national preseason poll.
