Kind of a stretch to equate the horse controversy with McClement's tenure. I am sure McClements was a low cost hire who probably had the backing of Schellas. If he panned out we would get a good replacement for Schellas for substantially less than bringing in a big name. Now that he has not panned out, SO needs to take the money he saved and find us a top coach who can quickly bring SMU back to top 10 status. For SMU soccer, being top 25 will not cut it. We should be top 10 year in and year out.

MB76- Amen, I couldn't agree with you more. This program needs to get back in the top 10 post haste. The next coach needs to be a highly qualified coach who can get us there.

I just wonder if the AD is committed to doing it. It has been speculated more than once (not by me) that the AD mortgaged the future of the non-revenue sports to make sure football and men's basketball would be competitive.

I don't know if mortgage means cutting budgets, making cost-savings hires or what not. But I have a feeling that neither the men's nor the women's soccer programs will fluorish under his watch.

My confidence in Steve Orsini wanes.

I am in complete agreement with you. I have lost a lot of confidence in him as well. I really hope he is not going to let these once great programs fall into further disarray. There are many who will no longer support athletics financially if he doesn't make the necessary changes so they can improve.
