SMU's Devon Callaghan Earns C-USA Swimmer Of The Week

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU women’s swimmer Devon Callaghan was named Conference USA Swimmer of the Week for her performance last weekend against the Texas Longhorns, it was announced Tuesday.

Callaghan won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:03.84 and was part of the 200 yard medley relay team that finished second by just .3 seconds (1:43.47-1:43.77). Her time in the 100 yard breaststroke was just .06 seconds off her best time of the year, which she accomplished against Rice, finishing the event in 1:03.78. Against Texas she also had a personal season-best 2:04.64 finish in the 200 yard IM. The competition on Saturday was intense, as the Longhorns came into the meet ranked No. 3 in the country. Callaghan’s victory was one of three on the day for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs will return to action on Friday in Columbia, Mo. as part of the Grand Prix. Full results will be available on smumustangs.com.
