Ties North Carolina 1-1 In Houston
Ben Hill, Peyton Hickey combine for SMU's Goal

March 20, 2010

HOUSTON (SMU) - Ben Hill scored in the 45th minute and SMU tied 2009 College Cup Semifinalist North Carolina 1-1 in an exhibition match played Saturday, March 20 at the Awty School in Houston.

North Carolina started the scoring in the 27th minute with a goal by Enzo Martinez, the only goal allowed by SMU goalkeeper Guy Logan on the evening. Coppell native Ben Hill equalized the score just before halftime for the Mustangs. Payton Hickey, who lead C-USA with nine assists in 2009, was credited with the assist.

The exhibition match, sponsored by Houston's Albion Hurricanes Football Club, went to penalties immediately following regulations, where North Carolina won 6-5.

The Mustangs finish the spring exhibition schedule on Friday, April 23 when they host Midwestern State at Westcott Field.

UNC traditionally is an elite team, a national power.
From what I heard ... yes, we played well. Here's hoping it's a sign of things to come.
