TULSA, Okla. (SMU) - The No. 1 seed SMU women's tennis team won 4-0 against No. 8 seed Memphis in the quarterfinal of the Conference USA Championship at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa. The Mustangs, ranked No. 27, improve to 23-3 on the season as they pursue a second straight title. SMU faces No. 4 seed and 59th-ranked Marshall on Saturday at Noon in the semifinal round.

The Mustangs swept the doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. In singles, Katerina Vankova (8-2) won 6-0, 7-5 at No. 3; No. 116 Edyta Cieplucha (17-1) dominated 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and Shahzoda Hatamova (27-7) clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles.

The winner of the Conference USA Championship receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship. The NCAA Tournament selections will be announced on Tuesday, May 4; the tournament begins on May 14.
