Freshman Juan Castillo Named C-USA Player Of The Week

IRVING, Texas (SMU) - SMU men's soccer player Juan Castillo was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week. The freshman forward tallied the game-winner in both the 1-0 win over SIU-Edwardsville and the 2-1 win against Western Illinois.

Castillo, a native of Kingwood, Texas, continued his stellar season this weekend at the Hurricane Classic in Tulsa, Okla. He netted a goal in each game en route to being named to the Tulsa Marriott Southern Hills Hurricane Classic All-Tournament Team. Castillo leads SMU with 8 points (4 goals), and has netted the game winner in each of the last three games to help the Mustangs to a 5-0-0 start.

SMU will head to Peoria, Ill., to play in the Bradley Tournament Sept. 17-19. The Mustangs will face No. 24 Creighton Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. and will take on Bradley Sept. 19 at 2:30 p.m.
