WICHITA, Kansas (SMU) --- The SMU volleyball team lost to Wichita State, 3-0, tonight at Koch Arena. The loss drops the Mustangs record to 7-3 this season, while the Shockers advance to 7-2.
The Mustangs lost in three straight sets (15-25, 18-25, 19-25) for the first time this season. SMU attacked at a season-low .089 percentage during the match, meanwhile the Ponies allowed the second highest hitting percentage (.279) by an opponent this season.
A bright spot for SMU came from middle blocker Caitlin Adair. The senior led the Mustangs in hitting percentage with a .364 clip and converted on 6 of 11 swings.
Another solid performer, Jessica Oliver, led the Ponies in kills on the night. The junior outside hitter tallied seven kills and three digs.
SMU returns to the court next Tuesday at TCU. Following the match with the rival Horn Frogs, the Ponies begin conference play with two matches at UAB, Sept. 24-25.
