Mustangs drop first of two competitions held at Georgia

BISHOP, Ga. (SMU) --- The SMU equestrian team lost to Kansas State, 8-2, on Saturday afternoon.
The Mustangs only won two of the show's matchups, but trailed the Wildcats by only 24 in the overall score.
In equitation over fences, SMU outscored Kansas State overall, but only prevailed in two of the five matchups. Pettersen earned her second MVP designation this season and Marissa Djernes garnered a point with her score of a 76 for the Mustangs.
Renick Townsend led the Red-and-Blue with a score of 71 on the flat, but Kansas State swept the event, 5-0.
With the loss, the Mustangs fall to 0-3 this season.
Tomorrow the Mustangs face off against the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs at 11 a.m. (CT).
