Junior Arthur Ivo Named C-USA Player Of The Week

IRVING, Texas (SMU) - SMU men's soccer player Arthur Ivo was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week. The junior midfielder tallied two goals over the weekend as the Mustangs defeated Jacksonville and conference rival UAB. SMU is now 9-0-0 on the season and holds a 1-0-0 mark in C-USA action.
Ivo scored against No. 24 UAB as SMU defeated the Blazers 3-2 Friday night to open conference play. Ivo tallied a goal in the 43rd minute when he received the ball from just outside the 18 and one-timed it home. On Sunday, Ivo netted the game-winner against Jacksonville for a 2-1 SMU overtime victory. After falling behind early, the Mustangs tied the game with a goal in the 70th minute. In the 93rd minute of play, Ivo completed the comeback as he scored the game-winner for the Mustangs. He received the ball wide from defender Leone Cruz at the edge of the 18 yard box. Ivo then beat a couple defenders and sent the ball in to keep the undefeated season alive for SMU.
On the season, Ivo has four goals, two of which have been game-winners, and one assist for nine points. The weekly honor is Ivo's first of his career.
