Volleyball Stunned By Houston, 3-1

HOUSTON, Texas (SMU) --- The SMU volleyball team lost at Houston, 3-1 (24-26, 21-25, 25-21, 26-28) on Saturday night. The loss drops a five match winning streak for the Mustangs, who are now 17-5 overall this season and 9-2 (second) in Conference USA action.
Libero Sidney Stewart tallied a match-high 34 digs, which is tied for the fourth highest total this season. Earlier this season Stewart set the league's season-high with 39 digs in a match against Sacramento State.
Senior Kathryn Wilkerson registered 14 digs to move up to 19th in C-USA history with 1,440 career digs. The outside hitter totaled 13 kills and three blocks.
Courtney Manning led the Mustangs with 17.5 points, 15 kills, five blocks and a .310 hitting percentage.
Dana Powell and Kelli Becerra each registered double-doubles for SMU. Powell finished with 13 kills and 11 digs. Becerra registered her fifth consecutive double-double with 45 assists and 12 digs.
The Mustangs held Houston to a .194 hitting percentage, but only attacked a .184 clip.
SMU pushed Houston to extra points in two of the three lost sets.
The Mustangs return home next weekend with a match against UCF on Friday and a Sunday tilt with UTEP.
