What happens to the non revenue sports if SMU joins the Big 12? There is no men's soccer, so would we become an associate member of Conference USA? Would we gain baseball?

Re: If SMU Joins the Big 12?Certainly a good question to explore.
At the very least we would be able to replace A&M in equestrian for the Big 12 equestrian tournament. I would assume we could find an adequate conference affiliation for soccer with our pedigree. Shake It Off Moody
Re: If SMU Joins the Big 12?Mens Soccer would either remain CUSA or go to the MVC. In a way, we kind of have a good bargaining chip in either Conference since we are a known quality men's soccer program. Tennis and Golf are B12 sports. Obviously all the women's sports save equestrian are B12. Men's Swimming would be the question mark. I'm guessing the B12 has men's swimming because UT and A&M, compete in it.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: If SMU Joins the Big 12?The Big 12 website lists swimming (men's and women's) as one of their sports.
Re: If SMU Joins the Big 12?South Carolina and Kentucky are C-USA members in soccer. Can't imagine we wouldn't be allowed to do the same.
Re: If SMU Joins the Big 12?No men's team. Women are Big 12.
Re: If SMU Joins the Big 12?
Just what I was wondering. Conversely, does the lack of a baseball program hurt our chances of getting back into a "big time" conference like the Big 12? If freaking Rice can win the College World Series, so can we!
Re: If SMU Joins the Big 12?I'm feeling more and more certain that within a year or two, there will be no Big 12 to join, or if the conference does still exists (even if in name only, after departures of A&M, OU, OSU, UT, TT, Mizzou, KSU and KU), it basically will be a more regional Conference USA-caliber league. Us, Baylor, Iowa State (unless they migrate as well) and some of the current C-USA teams?
Meh ... I'm starting to think it would be in SMU's best course of action would be to negotiate some sort of a C-USA-MWC merger. Won't have AQ status, but might be our best destination. They'd better bring back men's track before they waste time and money on baseball. I really shouldn't drink and type.
Re: If SMU Joins the Big 12?Texas, texas a&m and Missouri have men's swimming. Missouri's coach is an SMU alum.
There won't be big 12 men's swimming if TX and a&m leave. Tech, OU, & Kansas have all dropped swimming (mens)
