Who is the Butterflier? By the way, any news on Steve Lundquist who used to be in LA when I knew him? And which team beat us that year we came in #2 in the nation, with Steve on the team? Thanks for any info.

AusTx:

I don't know who beat us, e.g. Auburn maybe, but the flyer is Ian Clark:

SMU sophomore Ian Clark participated in the 2005 World Championship Trials Apr. 1-6, in Indianapolis, Ind. Clark, a native of Malvern, Pa., competed in the 200 and 400 IM and the 100 and 200 back, collecting 27 total points and finishing in a tie for 28th place in the men's individual standings. Clark swam in one championship final, finishing sixth in the 200 back in 2:02.72. In the 400 IM, he took first in the ‘B’ final and touched the wall in 4:28.40, good for ninth place overall. He also swam in the 'B' final of the 200 IM, taking 12th overall in 2:05.50. He then finished fifth in the ‘C’ final of the 100 back (57.65) and 21st overall.

In 1983 SMU finished runner-up at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship held at Cleveland State to the U. of Florida.
