COLUMBIA, S.C. (SMU) – SMU equestrian freshman Mary Abbruzzese was named student-athlete of the month for February in equitation on the flat by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association.

The Florida native had a record of 4-0 in equitation on the flat during the month of February. She stacked up victories against LSU, Baylor, Sacred Heart, and South Dakota State. The rookie has only lost one competition on the flat since November.

The SMU equestrian team will resume competition at the Pin Oak Invitational in which two riders, Courtney Line and Julianna Fischer, have been invited to participate. The meet will be held on Mar. 24 in Katy, Texas.
