Volleyball: SMU vs. Davidson

After defeating Grambling convincingly 3-0 earlier today, SMU faces Davidson tonight at Dedman. The Mustangs come into tonight's match 3-2 on the year, while the Wildcats are 4-0.

With the women's soccer team facing Davidson tonight in North Carolina, SMU has the rare opportunity for a Davidson double takedown.

SMU takes the first set 28-26!

Avery Acker with 22 assists!

Janelle Giordano and Cailin Bula with 5 kills. Abbey Bybel and Maddie Lozano both with 4 kills and a .800 hitting percentage.

Davidson evens things up with a 25-22 win in the second set.

Bula has 8 kills but is only hitting .077 (8/26). Lozano, Giordano, and Bybel all with 6 kills. Lozano is the only SMU player hitting .500 and she is right at .500.

Acker is up to 30 assists though.

Thankfully, Davidson errors kept us in the second set, but we need to step it up in the third.

SMU completes the Davidson Double with a 3-1 win (28-26, 22-25, 25-19, 25-15)!

Caroline Young with a huge fourth set ends up with 12 kills on the night. Bula leads SMU with 15. Bybel and Lozano also with 12, and Giordano with 11.

Acker has 57 assists!

The Mustangs move to 4-2 on the season, while Davidson suffers their first defeat falling to 4-1.

SMU faces Sam Houston State at 2:30 tomorrow at Dedman.
