From SMUMustangs.com:

SMU Tops TCU 2-0 Behind Goals From Redman, Smith
Mustangs Remain Undefeated All-Time Against Horned Frogs

Sept. 12, 2013

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs got two second-half goals from Shelby Redman and Courtney Smith as they defeated TCU 2-0 at Westcott Field on Thursday night.

SMU improves to 4-3 on the season while TCU falls to 2-4-1. SMU goalkeeper Shannon Moroney earned her second solo shutout of her career.

Redman opened the scoring in the 55th minute. Smith took a long free kick attempt which wound up on goal toward the top right corner. TCU goaltender Vittoria Arnold got her hands on the ball and knocked it straight down, where Redman found it two yards from the goal line and tapped it home. The goal was Redman's fifth of the year, which tops the team.

Smith added to the total about 20 minutes later. Rikki Clarke took the ball into the right side of the box, curled back and found Smith crossing from right to left. Smith then took a shot from about 25 yards out and found the top shelf for her first goal since Nov. 2, 2011.

The first half was even and slow moving, with each team recording four shots in an evenly-played period. Taylor Barg had the best scoring chance of the half as she moved the ball forward toward the penalty arc, then pirouetted to open up room around the defender and launched a rocket off her left foot which struck the crossbar.

Smith's assist gives her 22 for her career, moving her into a tie for 10th all-time at SMU. She is also now tied for ninth among active NCAA players in career assists.

The Mustangs will host Sam Houston State at 7 p.m. on Monday at Westcott Field. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here: http://www.smumustangs.com/tickets.
