DALLAS (SMU) - Caroline Young had a match-high 13 kills, and Maddie Lozano posted 10 kills, to lead the Mustangs to their seventh sweep of the season, a 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-21) win against Cincinnati in the Dedman Center Sunday afternoon.

Young hit .400 in the match, and SMU (11-6, 3-1 American Athletic Conference) hit .215 as a team, while holding the Bearcats (0-17, 0-4 American) to a .040 attack percentage for the match. Freshman Morgan Heise and sophomore Abbey Bybel each had a team-high 11 digs, with the Mustangs recording 43 as a team. Avery Acker finished with 33 assists and four digs.

SMU ended the match with a 25-21 win in the third set. Young scored seven of her 13 kills in the final set, accounting for half of SMU's kills in the third set. The Bearcats kept the score close until the Mustangs took a 13-8 lead. SMU led by seven, 20-13, before Cincinnati scored six straight to cut the lead to one, 20-19. The Mustangs kept the match from going to a fourth set, scoring five of the next seven points, including aces by freshman Kristen Stehling on the last two points of the match.

Lozano and Cailin Bula each had four kills to lead the Mustangs to a 25-15 win in the first set. Each swapped points to start the set until SMU scored three straight to take a 7-4 lead. The Mustangs extended the lead to seven with a 4-0 run, taking a 15-8 lead, sparked by a kill and an ace by Bula. SMU had Cincinnati doubled up, leading 20-10, and led by as many as 13 before the Bearcats went on a 5-1 run to get to 15 before Acker scored a kill to end the set.

SMU kept the momentum going into the second set, starting out with a 10-3 run. Five different Mustangs scored kills on SMU's first six points, and SMU again held Cincinnati to just 10 of the first 30 points, leading 20-10 before winning the set 25-15. Defensively, SMU nearly doubled its dig total from the first set, with Heise recording five of the team's 20 in the set.

The Mustangs travel to Memphis to take on the Tigers Friday at 7 p.m., and play at Temple Sunday at 12 p.m. CT. The next home match is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18 against USF at 7 p.m.
