Equestrian: SMU vs. Tennessee-Martin/Kansas State

No. 10 SMU will be in Martin, Tennessee this weekend to face the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks and the No. 6 Kansas State Wildcats.

The Mustangs are 3-3 so far this year, which is pretty impressive considering this is the first year with a combined Hunter Seat and Western team.

Kansas State is also 3-3, and Tennessee-Martin is 1-4. SMU defeated UTM 13-4 earlier this season at BuckBranch Farm.

SMU will face Tennessee-Martin Friday at 2pm and Kansas State Saturday at 10am. (note - the SMU online schedule has these meets reversed)

The latest NCEA rankings were released this morning. SMU is still No. 10. Kansas State slipped to No. 7.

UTM defeated SMU 11-8 today.

UTM won fences 3-2, flat 3-2, and horsemanship 3-2. Reining was 2-2.

On the bright side, Julia Fowler was MOP on the flat and the great Schaefer Raposa was MOP over fences!

Kansas State leads 6-4 after horsemanship and fences.

KSU won horsemanship 4-1. The SMU point was from Jaclyn White.

SMU won fences 3-2 with points from Schaefer Raposa, Sylvia de Toledo, and Julianna Fischer.

KSU wins the flat 4-1 and now lead SMU 10-5. KSU just needs one point in reining to clinch the meet.

The SMU point on the flat was by Mary Abruzzese.

K-State wins reining 3-1 and defeats SMU 13-6 overall today.

The SMU reining point was from Courtney Line. Morgan Redwine was able to tie her reining opponent.

A bit of a rough weekend for the Mustangs with losses to UTM and K-State. SMU is now 3-5 on the season.

SMU hosts No. 2 Auburn in two weeks.
