Great Golf Central story on Bryson

Postby LA_Mustang » Sun Aug 23, 2015 10:13 pm

@GolfCentral: Bryson DeChambeau completes US Am-NCAA double. http://t.co/OAAvd5Qc3S http://t.co/MJvAbNe02S

Love this paragraph.....
Five days of national-television exposure have made clear what the rankings do not: DeChambeau is the best amateur in the world, a part-mad scientist, part-artist who can mow down opponents with machine-like efficiency.
SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs

Great Golf Central story on Bryson

Postby smusic 00 » Mon Aug 24, 2015 1:06 am

Excellent. Couple things, makes you realize how important Gregory was to this program and what a loss he was. Also hints that Bryson won't turn pro until next summer, which goes along with what he said before and lets him play Augusta.

We know you mean Gregory.

FWIW, Gregory traveled to Chicago for Sunday's round too-at least that's what he said on Twitter prior to. So both Enloe and he were up there.

That is a great article. Love that he sometimes writes backwards. Every new article an new oddball eccentric tidbit comes out.

He has such a weird swing. The slow play is a negative, but with all the robot copycats on the tour, having a guy that looks and plays differently will be a breath of fresh air.

Looking forward to his next year.

The Gregory thing is a real mystery. Why he felt the need to be that stupid is beyond me. We would have had quite a run in the golf world, and not sure Enloe can make that happen on the recruiting trail.

They've got some skins now. Two years in a row with bracket play in the NCAAs. Now this and the new 'world class' facility at Trinity Forest. Shame we lost that top 5 guy but younger kids will be paying attention.

I haven't read much on the status of Trinity Forest. Is it on schedule? How did the Trinity flooding affect the course?

While it's near the trinity it is not technically flood plain. It is above the river somewhat. The sod is being laid and it (the course) is on schedule to open next spring. Not sure about SMU's side of it, which is separate and on the other side of loop 12/Trinity Pkwy.

What an accomplishment. There is not a better ambassador for Smu than Bryson Dechambeau!!

as a supporter of Smu men's golf, I'm fairly aware of the situation and what Coach Gregory did, enloe, etc... Gregory did violate the text message rule, that is a known fact. However he never gave away free gear to prospects. He simply sold it to his commitments at the wrong price. Mistakes yes, worth firing.. Probably not. Obvious to most around the program and in the know without major BB investigation, he would still be coaching. A shame to lose one of, if not the best coach in the country. His kids loved him and still do. Look at Impact he had on program and Bryson Dechambeau. I can imagine how proud he is of Dechambeau accomplishments!

Hopefully program will hang in there. We will see if recruiting will continue at the pace it was going! Hope so

I never believe 100% the coaches actually post everything on their accounts, but this one sure is interesting all thing considered...

So proud of SMU's very own Bryson DeChambeau! Love watching you play. Keep up the great work - Josh would be proud!

It really is too bad. We just have to operate at a different standard and that is unfair on a lot of levels.

The whole golf team has a lot to be proud of with all the recent success. Hopefully, the team can build on this success and put the other stuff behind them. Coach Gregory did a great job and the story of how he got DeChambeau to SMU speaks volumes of who he is. Nothing will take that away.
