Volleyball: SMU at Cincinnati/Memphis

An obviously very early look at The American standings:

It looks like it will be imperative for SMU to stay within a game of UCF until the rematch in Orlando. There isn't going to be any room for an off night in conference play for anybody near the top.

It also looks like the new teams aren't quite up to the level of play in the conference yet.

But, there is still a long way to go.

UCF just defeated UConn 3-0.

SMU falls to 2-2 in The American after being swept 3-0 by Memphis today (25-20, 25-21, 25-21).

The Mustangs are back home next weekend against Houston Friday night and Tulane Sunday afternoon.

Caroline Young suffered an ankle injury in the first set, which explains a lot of what happened today. I hope she is OK!

The Tigers took advantage in the first set, winning 25-20. The Mustangs were leading 15-12 when Young went down with an ankle injury. The senior was hitting over .300 with four kills at the time of the injury, but the Tigers rallied to score the next eight points for a 20-15 lead before the Mustangs could regroup.
