Re: New Soccer CoachWow! I have a feeling I taught Kevin Hudson back in 2000. Of course my days as a graduate instructor were severely impacted by my nights as a bar back so I could be confusing him. Wasn't he on the team with Lucchi?

Re: New Soccer Coach
Yes there was overlap with Luchi and Kevin. I am pretty sure Luchi graduated with me in 2001.

Re: New Soccer CoachIs it out of the realm of possibility for us to hire Schellas again?
Re: New Soccer CoachAt this point, I would think so, since we just hired a head coach.
Re: New Soccer CoachNothing against the guy but hasn't he only been coaching like 7 years? I guess that's not so important but we'll see.
Re: New Soccer Coach
Red, I don't know him that well since he was many years younger than me, but I do know he is very well respected and liked among the SMU alumni players, and that includes myself. Since he played for SMU and Shellas, he is very aware of the history of SMU soccer and is very connected to it. I cannot think of too many guys that could come in that have his knowledge of the program. I think he will be able to use this to build back the program. Also, Bill makes a very good point. He is not a guy that was an dead weight assistant. He is a commodity and had many career options. As you can see from the press release, he is very intelligent and organized, which I think will bode well for rebuilding the program. We seem to have gotten pretty darn good players, yet couldn't get them to perform as a group for extended periods during the season. That to me seems to have been Tim's shortfall. I am hopeful that Kevin can be the guy to mesh the recruiting and the on the field play. That is a long winded way to say that I like the hire. I really am not sure who would be a splash hire that would be better than Kevin. Fifty, Shellas is back in Dallas and enjoying retirement. I think he wants to coach again, but he won't take a job just to take a job. I imagine he will be very close with Kevin and helping him. He doesn't want to be too high profile and overshadow the program. He wants to keep some distance from SMU to be fair to whoever is coaching. I had talked to Bill about this before, but we need to get group of the soccer ponyfans to meet up at a game - There will be some spring games that might be fun - or we could pick a fall game. Re: New Soccer CoachHey Treadway21. question- since we are tending to normalize relations with Cuba do you know if I can now bring Cubanos into the country without a problem? IIRC I saw something that said I could bring them in but could not resell them. If that is correct I will bring a bunch this fall when I come to the U.S.
Re: New Soccer Coach
Schellas was named head coach at Grand Canyon yesterday. Brent Erwin is his assistant! http://www.gculopes.com/news/2015/1/13/MSOC_0113151011.aspx Shake It Off Moody
Re: New Soccer Coach
Great find Dan. He will do well there I am sure. They must have some money:
SMU would do well to have such a facility. Red, I will find out about those cubans. I think you are right so will gladly light one up with you when you are in town. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
