Re: Gregory resigns??
No tolerance on recruiting violations. I believe by spending time making sure the golf team stays on course, we may not have the time to fully legislate the BB team. ![]() All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Gregory resigns??if we straitjacket ourselves might as well be called GIMP U.,
as in bring out the gimp from PulP Fiction that stigma is not deserved and the ncaa is not the i.r.s., wtf The ncaa is a R.I.C.O.
Re: Gregory resigns??It would depend on how much he abused the amount of contact via texting. All of these coaches take compliance courses so they understand what they can and can't do and when they can and can't do it. If this was a small dose, then SMU may have over reacted. If this was beyond excessive and he had been warned or internally punished (without public knowledge) and he kept doing it, then he gave SMU no choice.
I think Indiana's BB program under Kelvin Sampson went through this and it wound up costing Sampson his job. And I believe Jeff Capel at OU did the same thing. So SMU fans must fear not to wallow in their own self pity (which is something they really are good at) because this isn't the first school to be hit by this. Yes, the NCAA rulebook is obsolete and is in the process of being overhauled. But until the rules for the non-revenue sports are made to meet the present day reality, then you better stick by what they say -- or stay pretty darn close to what they say.
Re: Gregory resigns??Must have been something excessive and severe to be forced to resign..Yes there is tolerance and every coach at SMU has had some type of "violation" that they are reprimanded for. Gregory did some serious violations that must have added up over time and forced Hart's hand. Look forward to hearing exactly what went down and why the timing to let him go took so long. Also keeping an asst that was rumored to be involved in the infractions is very interesting.
Losing these great recruits would be a huge blow to one of the best up and coming programs in the country.
Re: Gregory resigns??pedo state didn't roll-up in a fetal position and fade away, they defended their butt pounding vigorously. Miami didn't let murderous drug dealing thugs crimp their style, and on and on
It's a rough world, you have to fight back. The ncaa is a R.I.C.O.
Re: Gregory resigns??Top level coaches at top 10 programs are not forced to resign over simple recruiting violations in any sport.
Re: Gregory resigns??Its gotta be more than a couple of over the top text messages. There's something else out there. Losing two potential top recruits, OUCH!
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
