#17 SMU Defeats #4 Creighton, 1-0

Omaha, Neb. - The 17th-ranked SMU men's soccer team fought off a fierce second-half push by the fourth-ranked Creighton Bluejays and held on for a 1-0 victory Friday evening in Omaha, Neb. With the win, SMU improves to 6-3 on the season (1-0 MVC) while Creighton falls to 6-2 overall (0-1 MVC.).

Creighton was SMU's second consecutive top-10 opponent and the third of the last four opponents. SMU is now 3-1 vs. top-25 teams this season.

In an extremely physical battle between the two teams, SMU's Adrian Chevannes tallied the game's lone goal at the 14:17 mark. It was Chevannes' second goal of the season and his second game-winning goal as well.

The Mustangs close out its four-week road swing Sunday afternoon with a game at Drake. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.

That's huge - Creighton's always overrated. And their fans are like A&M (for women's soccer) - they think they're better than they are. A win like this shows the true order of things....
