Mustangs Blow Away Field
Ponies Top No. 1 Auburn


BATON ROUGE, La. (SMU) - The SMU men’s golf team cruised to a seven-stroke win with a 39-under 825 at the University Club Intercollegiate at the 7,205-yard, par-72 University Club. The Mustangs bested the 14-team field which included No. 1 Auburn, No. 10 Kent State, No. 23 Georgia Southern, No. 28 Alabama and No. 32 Ole Miss.

The low team score shattered the old school record of 841 set at the 1999 John Burns Invitational by 16 strokes.

The golf team needed a big win to move up in the rankings. They were ranked 64th, so this should help them move up. It counts as two top 10 wins, and five top 25 wins. That should help their ranking tremendously.
