Just got through watching Ugo Ihemelu and the L.A. Galaxy shut out FCDallas (a.k.a. the Dallas Burn), 2-0. It occurred to me that SMU grad Paul Broome was traded a couple of years ago from Dallas to L.A., and since he didn't get on the field tonight, I looked him up to see if he's still on the L.A. roster. Turns out he is -- all is well.

However, as I read through his official bio, I saw this:

"Started 66 of 76 games in four years at SMU … finished college career with 23 goals and 16 assists … earned First Team All-Western Athletic Conference honors in 1998 … etc., etc."

Really? I don't think men's soccer ever was a WAC-recognized sport. Where do they get this? That's sad that they didn't know his conference.

It would be even more embarrassing if that's the information they got directly from SMU.

The WAC had men's soccer through 1999. In 2000 we had to join the MVC as the WAC no longer had enough men's teams to qualify as a conference sport.

With our recent switch to C-USA...are we moving out of the MVC in soccer also?

Yes, CUSA will have soccer. UCF, UAB, Memphis, SMU, Tulsa will be playing next year for sure (Maybe Marshall). I think they're adding three SEC teams, Vanderbilt, South Carolina and another one.
