Homan Beats Volpenhein to Win Cincinnati Met Am Championship

Wes Homan, who played college golf at Southern Methodist University, is the champion of the men's Greater Cincinnati Metropolitan Amateur Championship.
Homan defeated seven-time champion Jim Volpenhein, 1 up, on Sunday at Four Bridges Country Club in the 36-hole final.
Homan, a graduate of Summit Country Day School and a three-time Southwest Ohio Player of the Year, took the lead on the second hole and never lost the lead. When Homan won the 23rd hole, he was 4 up. But Volpenhein rallied and squared the match on the 34th hole. Two holes later, Homan won the match when he made a 25-foot birdie putt on the par-4 18th.
