DALLAS (SMU) - SMU freshman defender Leone Cruz (Round Rock, Texas) was selected as this week's Conference USA Offensive Player
of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. He shares the honor with Kentucky's Riley O'Neill.
In his collegiate debut, Cruz came off the bench for the Mustangs this past weekend and scored both game-winning goals as SMU knocked off a tough Wisconsin team, 1-0, in overtime Friday and shutout No. 24 UW-Milwaukee, 1-0, Sunday. The team earned the Golden Hurricane Classic title and the freshman from Round Rock, Texas, was named MVP of his first collegiate tournament.
