Shuleva leads men's soccer to tie in Tulsa

Shuleva Scores Twice In Tough C-USA Draw

Tulsa, Okla. (SMU) - Senior midfielder Ben Shuleva scored a pair of goals to lead the No. 9 SMU men's soccer team to a 2-2 tie at No. 18 Tulsa Friday night. The tie moved the Mustangs' record to 4-2-2, while Tulsa now stands at 5-2-1, while the Mustangs moved to 4-2-2. The game was the first in Conference USA competition for each team.
Shuleva scored his first goal of the season off an assist from Scott Corbin from 12 yards out to put the Mustangs ahead in the 16th minute. Tulsa's Thomas Story countered with his first goal of the season to tie the score at 1-1 going into halftime.
Shuleva got his second goal of the night - this one on an unassisted shot from inside the penalty box - in the 54th minute, but TU's Chris Clements knocked in a goal with just 1:21 left on the clock to send the contest into overtime.
TU and SMU battled the extra 20 minutes, but the contest ended in a 2-2 tie.
The Mustangs return to Westcott Field this Wednesday, Oct. 3, when they host Missouri State.
