Very impressive since FC Dallas played most of their starters and is getting ready for the season. Sorry I missed the game but forgot all about it.

That is impressive.....you think SMU hoops could play the Mavs to OT.....at which point Dirk and Kidd would say "we can't beat these guys, let's call it a tie."

Can someone explain the headline of the article to me in that is says "Hoops tune up....." What am I missing here? Is Soccer now called basketball everywhere else rather than football?

It's a European football tradition that jerseys with the horizontal stripes that go all the way around are referred to as "hoops", and the name can be applied to the team as well.. Since Dallas switched from the Burn, they changed uniforms and now have the nickname hoops.

Thanks for the answers. Now I get it. Actually thought there was a newbie sportswriter that got his sports mixed. Obviously I do not follow the Dallas soccer scene.

This draw is even more impressive considering the Ponies had a number of regulars out with injuries.
