Jerry Jones and Lacrosse

Mr. Jones said the Cowboys also are still aggressively pursuing other big events, such as the NCAA basketball Final Four, international soccer matches and college football games. But he also mentioned another sport, lacrosse, which has not come up in previous public statements.
NCAA championship lacrosse games have attracted crowds of more than 70,000 in the Northeast, Mr. Jones said. There have already been a couple of professional lacrosse games at Texas Stadium in Irving and more club games are expected.
"We think we could be the first venue west of the Mississippi to bring [in] final four lacrosse," Mr. Jones said.
Theres food for thought on how LAX is growing...

In 2006, the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Semi-Final Attendance was 49,500 and Final 47,000+. In 2007, it was 51,000+ and 48,000+ respectively.
The NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship is the most attended NCAA Championship, narrowly outdrawing the Final Four of men's basketball.[

Yes....but it was no where near Texas. I'm sure the Frozen Four draws well, also...but it wouldn't even be on the map around here.

i bet 30000 of the fans at the ncaa lax finals are from out of town....just my opinion but its better than yours because i follow lacrosse

First Western Lax Final Four

Denver will be the first location for the Lax Final Four...it will draw over 50k per session. Denver is a great sports town and has a much larger lacrosse following than Texas. It also has 2 DI teams - AFA and Denver. Lacrosse at the highest level would draw well in Big D, however Denver will hold the first western US Final Four.

I wish SMU could make men's LAX a D-1 scholarship sport. It'd be a spring sport we could follow and we'd be the first school in TX to go D-1 and could probably get all or most of the TX kids leaving the state to play at other schools.
I'm sure a dominant program could be established...kind of like what SMU did with soccer.
