EL PASO (SMU) - SMU senior Andrea Kvetova won the javelin with a 50.28m throw to highlight day two of the 2008 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Kidd Field.

SMU's Lauren Kuhner finished up the heptathlon and placed third in the event with 4,453 points, edging out Tulane's Arielle Minor by two points for All-Conference honors. Kuhner won the javelin, took seventh in the 800m run and placed eighth in the long jump in the event on Friday.

C-USA All-Conference honors are awarded to the top three finishers in each event. The individual champions are named to the first team, while second-place finishers are awarded second team honors and the third team is comprised of bronze medalist.

The majority of Friday's events were preliminary races, building up to Saturday's championship races. The SMU runners who qualified on Friday for the championship races were Gayla Cloud (100m hurdles), Ilyssa Pettigrew (800m) and Nnenna Ejesieme (400m hurdles).
