From the archives: Slicing up the scholarship pie
Erwin has about 25 spots on his roster and the ability to offer the equivalent of 14 athletic scholarships.

The same would be true with the men's program with less scholarships to divide. So qualifying for finanicial aid and Pell Grants beomes critical.

IIRC, Pell grants are becoming increasingly hard to get, with the cutoff point for them becoming lower and lower. Some loan companies are even refusing to refinance stafford loans under the new law.
